WCS PNG programme recently celebrated a milestone following the announcement of one of its employee as a recipient of the 2014 WCS Global Employee recognition award.
John Kuange,Community Engagement Team leader (pictured) was the proud recipient of the award.
The Employee Recognition Award is an annual initiative of the WCS Headquarters in New York,USA.
It acknowledges its full- time employees that show high values and commitment held by WCS by honoring them under three different categories; the employee, manager and team of the year.
Known to his colleagues as JK, the announcement of his achievement was celebrated in a small but significant way at the Goroko office.
JK was nominated by his team members for his significant contribution towards improving cross-cultural understanding through the community engagement work of linking WCS’s science work with the partner communities.
JK started his career with WCS-PNG in 2004 as a socio-economic research assistant and this year marks a decade of working with the organization. He had over the years worked his way up to his current post as a team leader and on occasion acted as country director.
“My award is WCS’s award and it’s a good thing for WSC-PNG”, said JK. “Puts us (WCS-PNG) on the map as a conservation organization in the country.”
It was a double celebration for JK as he beat the odds to take out the prestigious employee of the year award and also celebrates his 10th anniversary with WCS-PNG doing conservation work.
